Gallery of Whale Watching Mauke Style

Friday afternoon, late August, arrived at Mauke Airport. Two adult Humpback whales and a calf reported. No sign of them in the sea beyond the airport – where one usually sees whales on Mauke. Saturday morning, back at the airport, 9am. Two whales are lounging around at the western end, waving their flippers in the air.

“We have had a wonderful stay; wish we could be here longer… Ta is a terrific guide, especially to the banyan tree and the water caves… When I get ready to write a novel I will be sitting here in this thatched hut, looking out over the reef and the Pacific Ocean. We even saw a whale! Our stay here has been a dream come true.”
